My Styling Philosophy
Lifestyle. Personality. Bodytype.
“When those three align, getting dressed becomes effortless. You stop feeling frustrated in fitting rooms. You stop chasing trends that don’t serve you. And you begin seeing yourself the way I see you — confident, polished, and completely individual…
…nobody has your style that’s why it’s called personal”
Every relationship begins with a phone call. I want to understand you. I’ll ask questions like:
• What are you wearing right now?
• What did you wear the last time you went out?
• What does your week actually look like?
• Are you happy with your personal style?
• What’s your relationship with fashion?
Most women wear a small percentage of what they own. During a 3-hour home session, we:
• Try on key pieces.
• Decide what to keep, tailor, sell, or donate.
• Identify what’s missing.
• Begin building a cohesive wardrobe plan.
This step prevents unnecessary purchases and gives us clarity before we shop. There are hidden gems waiting to be rediscovered and pieces that no longer serve you.
Once we know what’s missing, we shop with purpose. I pre-select everything in advance based on your size, lifestyle, and budget. No wandering racks, no overwhelm. I am not tied to one store.
We might go to Zara one day and Bergdorf’s the next. I believe in investing in quality staples and using accessories to bring in modern trends and polish. And most importantly: If you wouldn’t wear it tomorrow, we don’t buy it.
Many clients work with me seasonally. Style evolves and so does life. Success, to me, means:
• You feel confident.
• You’ve learned something.
• You call me back next season.
Shopping for something as simple as the perfect t-shirt shouldn’t be overwhelming—or frustrating. That’s where I come in. I bring the eye, experience, and ease to help women feel confident and stylish every day.
For the past 25 years, I have worked in various aspects of the New York fashion industry. At The New York Times, I interned as a writer and fashion stylist for former Fashion Editor Amy Spindler and former Fashion Director Anne Christensen, which led to writing assignments for WWD, V Magazine, Style.com, The New York Times and The Washington Post. I’ve also been lucky enough to work with amazing designers like Zac Posen and my greatest teacher Bill Cunningham.
I am a member of both the Couture Council of the Museum at FIT and All Walks Beyond the Catwalk. These valuable experiences allowed me to cultivate the comprehensive skill set that I now apply to my true passion: Personal Styling.
I Started off in editorial, styling models and celebrities but it was when , I landed a job styling “real women” as a personal shopper for Bloomingdales and then Henri Bendel that I found my true calling. I made the decision to branch out on my own to focus completely on the individual and not be dependent on any one store to fulfill my fashion needs. Thus the birth of Stylish Sarah LLC.
